The Company

Plastic World is a leading provider of technology for injection molding and injection blow molding machinery. Plastic World's Smart Control™ and Max-E-Save™ technologies reduce the electricity necessary to mold a plastic part up to 88% and increase productivity up to 56% when compared to non-equipped machines.

Smart Control™ changes the way an existing machine operates through a series of complex proprietary algorithms loaded onto a new PC and/or PLC control system that is integrated into the machine.

Max-E-Save™ incorporates highly efficient brushless DC servo motor(s) and drive(s) into a machine to further improve the benefits of Smart Control™. The most common way to obtain these technologies is through an "On-Site Conversion". In an on-site conversion Plastic World sends a technician to a customer's facility to replace the existing control system and other components over to the Smart Control™ and Max-E-Save™ system. This conversion can de done with only 3-5 days of machine down time with an investment recovery time of 4 – 12 months.

History

Plastic World, Inc. was founded in 1973, by , as Plastics International Enterprises (PIE) in Washington, New Jersey. Prior to forming his own business, Mr. Marazita was the Plastics Operations Manager for American Standard, the company’s highest position in Plastics. Plastics International dedicated itself to representing the finest names in machinery and auxiliaries for the plastics industry; in 1978 the company moved to Miami, Florida in order to better serve its growing client base throughout Latin America.

To accommodate this growing market, Plastics International began selling used machinery in 1981, and entered the remanufactured machinery market in 1982. Due to its reputation for reliable refurbished equipment, PIE experienced rapid growth during the 1980’s. A majority of this increase in business was from Mexico and the company again made a geographical move to better suit its customers. In 1989 PIE moved to its present headquarters just outside of Houston, Texas and changed its name to Plastic World, Inc. (PWI).

Throughout the nineties PWI changed the way it refurbished machinery improving the performance and precision of every machine sold. At the turn of the century Mr. Marazita visualized a different way of molding that would increase productivity, reduce electrical consumption, reduce or eliminate rejected parts, and reduce energy costs, among other benefits. In 2002 Plastic World finished the development and testing of the technology and applied for a patent.

Today, Plastic World is the exclusive vendor of the technologies known as Smart Control™ and Max-E-Save™ (US Patent No. 6814908 and other foreign patents). Customers can obtain the technology in three different ways:

  • On-site machinery conversions at a customer’s facilities,
  • Complete machinery re-engineering and re-manufacturing of customer’s machines at our plant,
  • Purchasing re-engineered and re-manufactured machinery from our inventory.
